Kubrick Wall Mounted Designer Acoustic Panel | 690 × 1200mm | NRC 0.75 | Class C
The Advanced Acoustics Kubrick Wall Mounted Designer Acoustic Panel is a large-format shaped acoustic panel from the Advanced Acoustics Designer Range. The Kubrick is designed to be specified in varying tones of the same colour, creating a tonal depth effect across the wall surface that gives the impression of three-dimensional relief. The panel consists of a 31mm open-cell acoustic foam core mounted on a rigid backing board, wrapped in a 100% recycled open-weave polyester cloth available in 31 colours.
The Kubrick measures 690 × 1200mm, providing 0.41m² of absorption per panel. The large format and tonal design approach make it suited to feature walls and open-plan environments where a sophisticated, designed acoustic installation is required. The 31mm foam core achieves NRC 0.75 (Sound Absorption Class C), providing effective absorption of mid and high frequencies — appropriate for controlling speech-frequency reverberation in office and commercial environments.
Applications
- Tonal feature wall installations. The Kubrick is designed to be used in multi-panel arrangements where adjacent panels are specified in varying tones of the same colour — light to dark or dark to light — creating a tonal gradient or 3D relief effect across the wall surface. The effect becomes more pronounced as the number of panels increases, making the Kubrick particularly suited to larger feature wall installations.
- Open-plan offices — reverberation and echo control. Install on walls to reduce reverberation time and improve speech intelligibility. The Kubrick's large format provides significant absorption coverage per panel, and the tonal design approach allows the acoustic installation to function as a considered interior design element rather than a purely functional addition.
- Meeting rooms and boardrooms. The Kubrick's sophisticated tonal aesthetic is well suited to boardrooms and executive meeting rooms where a premium interior finish is required alongside acoustic performance. A small arrangement of panels in two or three tones can provide the required absorption coverage while creating a distinctive wall feature.
- Educational environments — classrooms and lecture spaces. The Kubrick provides effective absorption of speech frequencies in educational environments. The tonal design approach is suited to educational spaces where a considered, non-distracting acoustic installation is preferred.
- Hospitality and commercial interiors. The tonal depth effect and wide colour range make the Kubrick suited to hospitality environments where acoustic treatment is required alongside a premium interior finish.
Product Benefits
- NRC 0.75 — effective mid and high frequency absorption. The 31mm foam core achieves NRC 0.75 (Sound Absorption Class C), with strong absorption from 500Hz upward: 0.65 at 500Hz, 0.94 at 1000Hz, 1.13 at 2000Hz, and 0.99 at 4000Hz. This frequency profile makes the Kubrick effective for controlling speech-frequency reverberation in office and commercial environments. Low-frequency absorption is more limited (0.30 at 250Hz).
- Class '0' fire-rated construction — compliant for commercial use. The acoustic foam core is Class '0' rated to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7, and C s1, d0 to EN 13501-1, meeting commercial fire safety requirements for wall-mounted acoustic treatment in offices, schools, and public buildings.
- 100% recycled open-weave polyester cloth — 31 colour options, tonal specification supported. The open-weave polyester cloth is produced from 100% recycled fibre, maintaining full acoustic transparency while providing a durable, abrasion-resistant surface finish. Available in 31 colours — the tonal design approach is achieved by specifying adjacent panels in different tones from the same colour family. Download the swatch card for the full range.
- Mirror plate fixing — discreet and secure. Supplied with mirror plate fixing hardware for a flush, secure wall mount. The discreet fixing method keeps the panel face clean and uninterrupted, maintaining the visual integrity of the tonal composition.
- Large format — 0.41m² coverage per panel. At 690 × 1200mm, the Kubrick provides significant absorption coverage per fixing point within the Designer Range.
- Handmade in the UK — consistent quality across every panel. All Designer Range panels are handmade in the Advanced Acoustics UK facility using consistent materials and construction methods, ensuring uniform acoustic performance and finish quality across every panel in an installation.
Please note: All Designer Range panels are made to order with a 2–3 week lead time.
Installation
Mark the fixing positions on the wall using the panel dimensions as a guide. Ensure fixing positions are located on solid wall structure or appropriate noggins — do not fix into plasterboard alone without appropriate cavity fixings.
For mirror plate fixing: screw the mirror plate to the wall at the marked position using appropriate fixings for the wall construction, and hang the panel on the mirror plate. Check that the panel hangs level before finalising the fixing position.
For tonal multi-panel arrangements, plan the colour sequence across the wall before ordering. Use a spirit level and spacers to ensure consistent alignment and spacing between panels. Mark all fixing positions before installing any panels to ensure the composition is correctly set out.
