The Rytons 9×9 Cowled Acoustic AirLiner Set is the largest format cowled ventilator in the AirLiner range, combining the high equivalent area of the 9×9 with an external cowl for improved weather resistance. Acoustic performance is 40 dB open and 41 dB closed — marginally better than the standard 9×9 due to the cowl geometry — with an equivalent area of 12,700mm² (marginally less than the standard 9×9 at 12,800mm², reflecting the cowl’s effect on the airflow path). Manufactured from UV-stabilised high-impact polystyrene and polypropylene. Cowl dimensions: 274mm L × 235mm H × 103mm D. Sleeve: 220mm W × 207mm H, extending 250mm to 404mm. Internal grille: 271mm L × 247mm H. Available in Terracotta, Buff/Sand, and White.

Applications

• Maximum background ventilation with improved weather resistance — exposed locations. The cowled 9×9 is the appropriate specification for large rooms or open-plan spaces on exposed wall faces or prevailing wind elevations where the standard flat external grille would be subject to wind-driven rain ingress. The cowl projects 103mm from the wall face — the largest cowl projection in the AirLiner range. Confirm clearance from adjacent wall features before specifying.
• Replacement of existing non-acoustic ventilators in 9×9 openings. Fits standard 9×9 inch (229×229mm) ventilator brick openings.
• Hit & miss control — ventilation management. When closed, acoustic performance improves to 41 dB.

Installation

As the standard 9×9 AirLiner Set. The cowl is fitted to the external face of the sleeve in place of the flat external grille. Ensure the cowl projects clear of the wall face and that there is adequate clearance from adjacent wall features. The cowl opening should face downward to deflect rain — confirm correct orientation before fixing.
