Norsound NOR830 Retro Fit Hinged Glass Door Bottom Auto Drop Seal | Glass 8mm | Under-Glass Mount | 15.4 × 27mm

The NOR830 is a single-actuation automatic drop seal designed for retrofit installation to the underside of hinged acoustic glass doors with 8mm glass thickness. The housing is bonded to the underside face of the glass door leaf — the face that faces the floor — rather than to the bottom edge. This under-glass mounting position results in a lower overall profile beneath the door and is suited to hinged glass door configurations where the bottom edge of the glass is not accessible or where the door hardware does not permit edge mounting. When the door closes, the actuator contacts the door stop and drives the seal carrier downward to close the gap between the seal and the floor. When the door opens, the carrier retracts, allowing the door to swing freely.

The NOR830 housing is manufactured from aluminium with a silicone gasket, supplied in silver anodised (C 0) or stainless steel-coloured anodised (C 31) finish. The housing profile is 15.4 × 27mm. Standard lengths are 708mm, 833mm, 958mm, 1083mm, and 1208mm, with a 125mm cutback. Single actuation. Bonded with adhesive (not supplied). Applications

• Hinged acoustic glass doors — 8mm glass, under-glass mounting — bond to the underside face of the 8mm hinged glass door leaf to seal the gap between the door bottom and the floor when the door is in the closed position. The under-glass mounting position is appropriate where the bottom edge of the glass is not accessible for edge mounting, or where the door configuration requires the seal to be positioned on the underside face rather than the edge. Select the appropriate length for the door leaf width, accounting for the 125mm cutback at the actuator end.
• Retrofit installation on existing hinged glass doorsets — the bonded fixing method allows the NOR830 to be installed on existing glass door leaves without drilling or screwing into the glass. Use a suitable structural adhesive compatible with the glass and aluminium housing materials. Ensure the glass surface is clean and free from contamination before bonding.

• Five standard lengths — 708mm to 1208mm. Available in five lengths covering standard hinged glass door leaf widths. The 125mm cutback accommodates the actuator mechanism at the end of the seal.
• Two finish options — silver anodised and stainless steel-coloured anodised.

Installation

Select the appropriate seal length for the door leaf width, accounting for the 125mm cutback at the actuator end. Clean the underside face of the 8mm glass door leaf thoroughly — the surface must be dry, grease-free, and free from contamination before bonding. Apply a suitable structural adhesive (not supplied) to the housing and press it firmly onto the underside face of the glass, ensuring correct alignment along the full length of the door leaf. Allow the adhesive to cure fully before operating the door.

Once cured, close the door and check that the actuator engages the door stop cleanly and the seal carrier drops to make full contact with the floor across the width of the seal. Check that the carrier retracts fully on opening and does not drag across the floor surface.
