The NOR840 is a single-actuation automatic drop seal designed for retrofit installation to the side face of hinged acoustic glass doors with 8mm glass thickness. Unlike the NOR830/831/832/833 under-glass mount family, the NOR840 housing is bonded to the side face of the glass door leaf — the face visible when looking at the door from the front or rear — rather than the underside. This side-glass mounting position is suited to hinged glass door configurations where the underside of the glass is not accessible, or where the door hardware or frame geometry requires the seal to be positioned on the side face. When the door closes, the actuator contacts the door stop and drives the seal carrier downward to close the gap between the seal and the floor. When the door opens, the carrier retracts.

The NOR840 housing is manufactured from aluminium with a silicone gasket, supplied in silver anodised (C 0) or stainless steel-coloured anodised (C 31) finish. The housing profile is 14.6 × 44.5mm — a taller profile than the under-glass mount family, reflecting the side-mounting geometry. Standard lengths are 708mm, 833mm, 958mm, 1083mm, and 1208mm, with a 125mm cutback. Single actuation. Bonded with adhesive (not supplied). Applications

• Hinged acoustic glass doors — 8mm glass, side-glass mounting — bond to the side face of the 8mm hinged glass door leaf to seal the gap between the door bottom and the floor when the door is in the closed position. The side-glass mounting position is appropriate where the underside of the glass is not accessible for under-glass mounting, or where the door frame or hardware geometry requires the seal to be on the side face. Select the appropriate length for the door leaf width, accounting for the 125mm cutback at the actuator end.
• Retrofit installation on existing 8mm hinged glass doorsets — the bonded fixing method allows the NOR840 to be installed on existing glass door leaves without drilling or screwing into the glass.

Installation

Select the appropriate seal length for the door leaf width, accounting for the 125mm cutback at the actuator end. Clean the side face of the 8mm glass door leaf thoroughly — the surface must be dry, grease-free, and free from contamination before bonding. Apply a suitable structural adhesive (not supplied) to the housing and press it firmly onto the side face of the glass, ensuring correct alignment along the full length of the door leaf. Allow the adhesive to cure fully before operating the door.

Once cured, close the door and check that the actuator engages the door stop cleanly and the seal carrier drops to make full contact with the floor. Check that the carrier retracts fully on opening.
